Baden-Württemberg: Cows cause an accident and flee from the van

Laupheim (dpa / lsw) - Three cows in an animal transporter caused an accident on the federal highway 30 near Laupheim (Biberach district). As the officials announced on Sunday, the cattle got restless in the van on Saturday evening and rocked the trailer. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went off the road. The trailer broke free and rolled over. Two animals jumped off the trailer and ran away, one cow was injured. The driver was not injured.

The fire brigade responded with a large contingent and secured the scene of the accident. Emergency services searched for the animals, initially unsuccessfully. A hunter was also on hand to help. Late in the evening, a cow ran onto the main road and was hit by a car. She died. An eight-year-old boy was also slightly injured in the collision.

On Sunday morning, emergency services found the second cow in a gravel pit, caught her after being shot with a tranquilizer gun and brought her to the farm. Damage of around 15,000 euros was caused.
