Baden-Württemberg: Deleted forest floor near Karlsruhe

Karlsruhe (dpa / lsw) - In a fire in the Hardtwald near Karlsruhe, around 5000 square meters of forest floor burned. More than 100 firefighters were on duty during the night from Monday to Tuesday and were able to extinguish the fire, according to a fire department spokesman. The fire attacked dead wood, leaves and small branches, trees and higher branches were not affected by the fire. A shuttle service consisting of several fire engines transported water to the scene of the fire, which was in the middle of the forest, and a nearby canal was used as a water source.
