Baden-Württemberg: Fojkar should run for the Mannheim mayor election

Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - Unlike the Mannheim mayoral election eight years ago, the Greens rely on their own candidate. A search committee has agreed on the Green City Councilor Raymond Fojkar. A corresponding report by "Mannheimer Morgen" was confirmed by the committee on Tuesday. The district members' meeting wants to nominate the applicant this Wednesday. Fojkar works as a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy. In his parliamentary group he is spokesman for people with disabilities, health and drugs, among other things.

In the election eight years ago, the Green SPD mayor Peter Kurz supported. Kurz no longer wanted to apply for a third term. Thorsten Riehle, head of the local council faction, is running for the SPD and Christian Specht, Treasurer of Mannheim, for the CDU.

On June 18, the citizens are called upon to elect the head of the town hall in the second largest city in Baden-Württemberg. The Greens are the largest group in the municipal council with 13 seats. In the green-led southwest, there are no longer any green mayors in the big cities.
