Baden-Württemberg: Halloween night leaves the police no peace

"Trick or Treat": Pranks are part of Halloween. But the police in Baden-Württemberg had to deal with more than just silliness and jokes.

Friedrichshafen/Reutlingen (dpa/lsw) - The police have a lot to do on Halloween night every year. With around 80 operations, the number of operations, at least in the area of the police in Reutlingen, was higher than in previous years. There were disturbances of order, damage to property, minor fires, illegal burning of fireworks and disturbances of the peace due to private celebrations. Later in the day, the police occasionally had to respond to quarrels or bodily harm - mostly in connection with the increasing alcohol consumption. There were also several notifications of doorbell pranks.

Around 20 young people did it particularly badly on Monday evening in Friedrichshafen (Lake Constance district). They harassed and terrorized local residents with noise, egg throwing and fire. When officers arrived, they were also thrown at with eggs and stones, and a mattress and a garbage can were also set alight, according to a police report. The partially masked young people fled in different directions. Nevertheless, the police were able to determine the personal details of some of those involved. The smaller fires were extinguished by the fire brigade. Nobody was injured.

In Reutlingen, an ambulance drove to a nightclub because an unknown party guest had sprayed pepper spray there. Eight people complained of respiratory irritation and had to be treated on an outpatient basis.

In Esslingen, several police patrols had to go to a discotheque. The organizer of the Halloween party there had informed the police because the party location was so well attended that a large number of people waiting had to be denied access. According to the police, this led to tumultuous scenes, so that the area was cleared.

In Tübingen, the fire brigade and police were deployed on Halloween night due to two fires. A trampoline burned in a garden, which was allegedly set on fire. The damage is estimated at around 500 euros. In addition, a container with waste paper and cardboard burned.

In Albstadt, officials controlled road traffic. The focus was on alcohol and drugs. Eight drivers were reported for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Two drivers lost their driver's license.
