Baden-Württemberg: Kretschmann on Bayaz rap: "He shot the bird"

Los Angeles (dpa / lsw) - Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann was amazed at the rap performance of his Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz in the USA. "The Minister of Finance - unfortunately I wasn't there anymore - shot the bird and rapped," said the Green politician at the end of his trip to the US on Friday in Los Angeles. "Well, we can also rap," said the 74-year-old, based on the slogan of the Baden-Württemberg campaign: "We can do everything except standard German."

On Thursday (local time), Bayaz used the stage for a rap interlude at an evening event in Los Angeles with rapper Max Herre from Baden-Württemberg. In contrast to the Prime Minister, who is almost twice his age, the 38-year-old is enthusiastic about hip-hop. Bayaz grabbed the microphone and rapped a song by the musician Torch from Heidelberg in front of his cabinet colleagues - it was about money: "I was born in Frankfurt am Main - in the German central bank as a 100-mark bill," it said about the start.

The framework was an event to promote German-American youth exchange. The rapper Max Herre (49, "Hallo Welt!") from Baden-Württemberg appeared in front of the state politicians. On Friday, Kretschmann spoke of a happy evening "with a different sound than we used to have". In the delegation, however, there was also some criticism because rapper Herre was flown in from Germany especially for the performance in order to perform in front of the people of Baden-Württemberg.

Kretschmann visited an American football stadium in Los Angeles with his delegation on Friday. He drew a positive balance of his week-long trip. Baden-Württemberg and California are important sources of inspiration when it comes to how the economy can be successfully and climate-neutrally restructured. The political partnership between the two countries could be deepened. Baden-Württemberg will set up a so-called trade desk as a contact point for Californian companies.
