Baden-Württemberg: Opposition wants to force Strobl to be released

The SPD and FDP once again bring out the big guns against the Minister of the Interior. The opposition wants to vote on Thomas Strobl's expulsion from the cabinet. The Prime Minister sees no reason for this.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The opposition wants to have the dismissal of Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl voted in the state parliament today. SPD and FDP are outraged that the CDU politician should remain in office, although he wants to pay a fine of 15,000 euros for the termination of the procedure in the so-called letter affair. If Strobl does not want to resign himself, Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) must fire him.

The SPD and FDP doubt that all members of the Greens and CDU really support Strobl. The deputy prime minister had passed a letter from a lawyer to a journalist. Kretschmann, who supports Strobl, announced on Tuesday that he wanted to comment in detail on the cause in the state parliament.

Finance Minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) also wants to present the draft for the next double budget at the meeting. Green-Black is now starting the parliamentary procedure so that the budget for the next two years can be approved in the state parliament in December. According to the draft, no new debt should be taken on. However, the budget is subject to many imponderables because a recession is imminent. The tax estimate comes at the end of the week. This should still be positive because the state benefits from the high inflation through sales tax. The federal-state meeting on Wednesday next week is also important for the budget, at which the distribution of the costs for the third relief package of the traffic light federal government is to be decided.
