Baden-Württemberg: Panting on short legs to victory: pug races in Wernau

Dozens of pugs, French bulldogs and a few Chihuahuas, plus excited masters and mistresses and several trophies - the pug race invites you to Wernau again.

Wernau (dpa / lsw) - They are small, short-legged and pretty fast: Dozens of dogs are racing today in Wernau (Esslingen district) in the southern German pug and bulldog race - and victory. The four-legged friends are divided into several categories: The "Fly Bees" make the start, followed by races for the "French Goddesses", the "Great Heroes" and the "French Seducers" - the group of bulldog males. Four-legged friends who are not yet a year old can also take part in the race in their own category ("The young wild ones" and "The young hoppers").

Pugs and bulldogs are traditionally particularly well represented at the event. A race for Chihuahuas is also planned. Dog owners could already train with their four-legged friends on the site on Saturday. Depending on the weather, the organizers expect pet owners with 150 to 170 four-legged friends.
