Rottweil (dpa / lsw) - The mayoral election in Rottweil goes into the second round on Sunday. Because none of the candidates was able to win an absolute majority in the first ballot, the voters are called to the polls again. The oldest city in Baden-Württemberg is looking for a new mayor, because incumbent Ralf Bross (independent) will take over the post of executive board member at the city council from November.
In the first round of voting on September 25, the managing director of the Federal Academy for Musical Youth Education in Trossingen, Simon Busch (non-party), and Rottweil's incumbent mayor Christian Ruf (independent) were almost level. Busch came to around 38 percent, Ruf to 40 percent. The Tuttlingen lawyer Joachim Bloch (AfD), who received 4.6 percent of the votes, is still in the running.
Voter turnout was 44.52 percent. Of almost 19,500 people, 8,700 cast their votes. The full-time district manager of Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Kai Jehle-Mungenast (independent) has withdrawn his candidacy. New candidates had not reported for the new election.
