Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - Since the special staff for dangerous foreigners was set up in 2018, the state of Baden-Württemberg has deported 313 dangerous criminals who were required to leave the country. According to its head, Falk Fritzsch, the special staff in Stuttgart, together with the four regional special staffs that are now attached to the regional councils, are responsible for the expulsion and deportation of groups of foreign multiple and intensive offenders. They mostly come from Syria, Turkey and Iraq, according to the Ministry of Justice.
By far the biggest problem with a deportation is to clarify the identity and nationality of those affected. Of the approximately 34,000 foreigners who are required to leave the southwest, around 13,000 people cannot currently be deported because their identity has not been clarified, explained Fritzsch.
The special staff for dangerous foreigners works together with the regional special staffs and, according to Fritzsch, also acts as an interface to the federal government. However, the capacities of the special staff with a total of around 15 employees - ten police officers, three administrative officials and lawyers now work there - are limited. Only handpicked cases could be processed.
