Baden-Württemberg: State is suing for the costs of the Expo pavilion in Dubai

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the dispute over the costs for the former Baden-Württemberg Expo Pavilion at the world exhibition in Dubai, the Ministry of Economic Affairs is now going to the Stuttgart Regional Court. A spokeswoman said on Wednesday: "In order to fully protect all possible rights and claims of the country against the project partners, legal action is taken." This will stop the statute of limitations that would otherwise end on December 31, 2022. An agreement with the project partners is still possible. "This remains the first goal of the state government."

According to the latest estimate, the total cost of the project is 17.5 million euros. The cost cap for the state is around 15 million euros.

The Baden-Württemberg House at the Expo in Dubai was originally the responsibility of three partners - the Chamber of Engineers, Fraunhofer and FWTM. The building was actually supposed to be built with sponsorship money and was therefore advertised as a project "from business for business". Initially, the state was only supposed to accompany the project politically and only contribute 2.8 million euros for the exhibition, but it was forced to bear most of the costs for the pavilion construction.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs had registered its financial claims for reimbursement of costs with those involved.
