Rottenburg am Neckar (dpa / lsw) - A 60-year-old in the district of Tübingen has probably lost several thousand euros in cash forever because she was taken in by an alleged miracle healer. The woman spoke to her victim in a shopping center in Rottenburg am Neckar and offered to free her from suffering, the police said on Friday. To do this, she had to clean the money of the 60-year-olds. A companion has confirmed the abilities of the self-proclaimed healer to support the lie story.
The 60-year-old went home on Thursday and got money. "After the woman returned, the scammer took it, put it in a plastic bag and performed an opaque purification ritual in which different bags were passed back and forth, with the money changing hands unnoticed," the police report said. The woman only noticed when she got home that the bag she got back contained only worthless filling material.
The scam with supposed faith healers and fortune tellers occurs again and again, especially in the Russian-speaking environment, said a police spokesman. The belief in such powers is more widespread there. In comparison, frauds such as grandchildren's tricks, fake police officers and so-called shock calls are more common.
