Berlin/Stuttgart (dpa/lsw) - Despite considerable additional demands from the federal states, Baden-Württemberg's Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann sees chances of agreement in the talks on the federal relief package. "The track is not on dispute, but on unity and unity," said the Green politician on Wednesday evening on SWR television after the meeting of the state heads of government in Berlin. The states are now united towards the federal government, but one hopes to be able to reach an agreement with the federal government.
Among other things, the federal states are demanding an energy price cap for electricity, gas and heat from the federal government. They also insist on a fair sharing of the burden between the federal, state and local governments when it comes to financing the package to relieve people of the high energy prices. The federal-state meeting with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) is to take place next Tuesday.
