Baden-Württemberg: woman's corpse in the trunk: murder charge against husband

Heidelberg (dpa / lsw) - In the case of a woman's body found in the trunk of a car in Sinsheim (Rhein-Neckar district), the public prosecutor's office has brought murder charges against the husband. The 66-year-old is accused of surprisingly attacking his then 64-year-old wife at home in June of this year and presumably killing her with a hammer, the Heidelberg public prosecutor said on Thursday. She assumes that the man acted insidiously and out of greed to get survivor benefits.

According to the prosecution, the man gave his wife a single powerful blow, from which she died shortly afterwards. Then he is said to have put the dead woman in the trunk of her car, drove to a parking lot on the edge of an industrial park in Sinsheim and parked the car there. The body was later found there.

The jury at the district court in Heidelberg is planning a total of eight days of hearing for the trial in January and February 2023. The presumption of innocence applies. The man faces life imprisonment if convicted of murder.
