Neustadt a.d. Aisch (dpa / lby) - The regional court in Nuremberg must now deal with several acts of sabotage in corn fields. The district court of Neustadt an der Aisch declared itself not competent on Monday and referred the case to the jury. According to the judge, a conviction for attempted manslaughter could also be considered in the case, a court spokeswoman explained. The accused had previously admitted to two of the five accused cases and named anger at the injured party as a motive.
The public prosecutor's office accuses two brothers of hiding nails, logs and metal parts in fields in Middle Franconia in 2019 and thus damaging agricultural equipment. In one case, an aluminum block is said to have caused damage of around 80,000 euros to a corn chopper. Nobody got hurt. Last May, the district court sentenced one of the brothers to a suspended sentence of 14 months. The public prosecutor's office and the defense appealed against this to the district court in Nuremberg.
The other brother did not appear for the hearing at the district court last year. The public prosecutor's office had therefore issued a penalty order that provided for a suspended sentence of one year. The man lodged an objection to this, so a hearing was held. According to a court spokeswoman, a police officer testified in court that there was a risk of someone being fatally injured in the acts of sabotage.
