Bavaria: Augsburg has a new president: Markus Krapf follows

Augsburg (dpa / lby) - FC Augsburg has found a successor for Klaus Hofmann. As the Bundesliga soccer club announced on Tuesday, the supervisory board appointed Markus Krapf as the new president. The 50-year-old knows the club like no one else - he was managing director of the Fuggerstädter from 2002 to 2006 and is a member of the FCA honorary council.

"It was important for us to find someone with roots in Augsburg, a strong personality and close ties to FCA," said Thomas Müller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. "In him we found the solution we wanted for the future direction of the club."

However, the starting point for the new President could hardly be more inappropriate. After disastrous performances, FC Augsburg is 16th in the table. in his first crisis of the season. Manager Stefan Reuter and new coach Enrico Maaßen are already under criticism after five matchdays.

"It is an honor for me that the Supervisory Board has given me the trust to be able to hold the office of President," said Krapf. "I will stand for seeking dialogue at all levels, maintaining open communication and taking the interests of its members seriously."

Hofmann was surprising at the end of the season as president of the FC Augsburg club and as managing director of FC Augsburg 1907 GmbH
