Bavaria: Bavaria wants to allow mobile phone masts in some cases without permission

Munich (dpa / lby) - In order to expand the mobile network more quickly, Bavaria wants to allow the construction of masts in some cases without an approval process. Digital Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU) said on Tuesday after a meeting of the Bavarian cabinet in Munich that there were plans for an "extended freedom of procedure" for mobile phone masts up to a mast height of 15 meters within built-up areas and 20 meters outside. To this end, the state government wants to agree a pact for digital infrastructure with the municipalities and operators by the summer.

It is important to facilitate the construction of the masts, as this is still taking too long in many places, emphasized Gerlach. The planned pact also includes exemption from approval for the installation of mobile masts for up to 24 months and the reduction of the distance requirements for outdoor mobile phone systems in order to increase the number of suitable locations for operators.
