Bavaria: Eleven injured in a bus accident in Aschaffenburg

Aschaffenburg (dpa / lby) - Eleven people were injured in a bus accident in Aschaffenburg on Sunday, two of them seriously. As the police headquarters in Lower Franconia announced in the evening, the city bus with 14 occupants left the road to the left, touched a light pole and then crashed into a tree. The cause was apparently the bus driver's health problems, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Two passengers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The bus driver was not injured by the accident, but was also taken to a hospital to clarify the medical problems, said a police spokesman. Nine passengers suffered mostly minor bruises. According to information from the fire brigade and rescue workers, three rescue helicopters, five emergency doctors and several ambulances had been ordered to the scene of the accident as a precaution. The damaged bus could be driven back to the transport company's yard without the help of a towing service.
