Bavaria: film festival along the Main focuses on water

Knetzgau (dpa/lby) - A film festival in 14 Franconian and Hessian cities along the Main is to take place for the first time in March 2023. The Main network announced on Monday in Knetzgau (Hassberge district) that films would be shown about free-flowing rivers all over the world, dam dismantling, water supply and scarcity. The network organizes the "1st Main FlussFilmFest" with the Bamberg association Flussparadies Franken and the Berlin Foundation Living Rivers.

The kick-off event is scheduled to take place on March 14 in Bayreuth, with the conclusion on March 26 in Frankfurt. Other venues are Lichtenfels, Bamberg, Zeil am Main, Schweinfurt, Kitzingen, Würzburg, Karlstadt, Marktheidenfeld, Aschaffenburg and Offenbach. The festival moves from the source of the Main to its mouth and, according to the organizers, is intended to make it clear that the Main "connects people over 500 kilometers and is their shared responsibility". A competition for young animators is also planned.
