Bavaria: IG Metall: Warning strikes in six companies

Munich (dpa/lby) - In the wage dispute in the metal and electrical industry, employees in Bavaria in three administrative districts laid down their work on Monday. A spokesman for IG Metall Bayern confirmed warning strikes in six companies in the morning. IG Metall district leader Johann Horn said that from Tuesday a "massive second wave of warning strikes would roll over Bavarian companies."

The warning strikes in Lower Franconia, Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate followed an "offer that was far too weak" from the employers' association vbm, according to a statement by IG Metall Bayern. In the fourth collective bargaining round, vbm did not offer a percentage for a pay increase. The union demands eight percent more money for twelve months for the approximately 850,000 employees. Employers offered a one-off payment of 3,000 euros net for a period of 30 months, as well as an unspecified increase in the wage tables.
