Bavaria: Incidence over 1000: record cases in hospitals

Munich (dpa / lby) - The corona numbers in Bavaria are increasing. According to figures from the Robert Koch Institute, the official incidence in Bavaria exceeded the 1000 threshold on Tuesday morning. Specifically, it jumped to 1096.8. That's a jump of 286.3 compared to Monday. However, reporting delays due to the weekend and a distortion due to the public holiday on Monday of the previous week may have contributed to this.

The incidence now only provides a very incomplete picture of the number of infections. Experts assume a high number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.

However, other corona numbers in Bavaria are also clearly pointing upwards. According to the State Office for Health and Food Safety (LG), 2,505 people with Corona have been admitted to Bavarian hospitals in the past seven days. A large part of it came with it and not because of Corona, but it is a very strong increase of more than 160 percent compared to the previous week and by far the highest value reported so far. In earlier waves he had reached a maximum of around 1500. Here, too, an effect of the public holiday on October 3rd may have influenced the current number to some extent.

The occupancy of intensive care beds is also increasing, but it is still well below the values of previous record waves. The RKI reports the highest incidences in Bavaria for Fürstenfeldbruck with 1840.1 and Tirschenreuth with 1708.4. A total of 52 of the 96 Bavarian districts and urban districts are currently over 1000, including the state capital Munich with 1497.4.
