Wörth (dpa / lby) - Two people were injured in Wörth (Erding district) when a tree fell on an S-Bahn station and tore down an overhead line. The tree hit a young woman – the 23-year-old and a 19-year-old also suffered electric shocks on Friday, according to the federal police. The 19-year-old was hit when he pulled the injured person out from under the ash tree.
The 23-year-old suffered from the tree, among other things, a shoulder bruise and various skin abrasions, as a spokeswoman for the federal police said. It was not yet clear how serious the injuries from the electric shock were. Both of the injured were taken to the hospital for observation.
It was initially unclear why the tree fell. The police are investigating, among other things, whether someone has not complied with the traffic safety obligation, the spokeswoman said. "But it doesn't really look like it because it was a young and healthy tree that was completely uprooted." The tree may have become too heavy due to the freeze-thaw cycle in the past few days.
The S-Bahn line between Marktschwaben and Erding was completely closed on Friday morning due to the salvage work. The Deutsche Bahn has set up a rail replacement service, as announced by the S-Bahn and the federal police.
