Bavaria: protest against new railway line to the Brenner tunnel in Bavaria

Rosenheim (dpa/lby) - Citizens' initiatives demonstrated again on Saturday in the Inn Valley against the construction of a new railway line towards the Brenner. In Ostermünchen in the Rosenheim district, around 150 people came together on the football field in the evening, said Lothar Thaler, chairman of the Brennderdialog initiative. The planned railway line would lead over this soccer field and the adjacent fields. Protest actions are also planned in Lauterbach and later in the evening in Oberaudorf.

The Brenner Base Tunnel, which is being built in Austria and Italy, is scheduled to be completed in around ten years and will help bring more freight traffic from the road to the rails. The inflow on the German side is around 60 kilometers long from Grafing to Kiefersfelden.
