Bavaria: Söder calls the cabinet for a budget retreat

Munich (dpa / lby) - Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) has called the members of his cabinet together for Sunday (12.00 p.m.) in Munich for a closed meeting. The state government announced that the 2023 state budget, Bavarian hardship funds and relief as a result of the Ukraine war and its own energy package were at stake. Budget planning is accompanied by great uncertainty, for example because of the rapid rise in prices.

Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) had announced that the 2023 budget could be set up without further new borrowing. It is true that he expects less revenue for next year compared to the spring estimate of around 600 million euros. However, the income in the current year has been particularly strong. Füracker expects 1.3 billion euros more than initially forecast.

Füracker had also already announced that the Free State intends to provide more money for the municipalities next year. The municipal financial equalization should be increased by 7.2 percent to 11.3 billion euros. The municipalities had recently asked for more money, especially for the accommodation of refugees from Ukraine.

Söder, Füracker and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger (free voters) want to inform about the results of the consultation in a press conference (3 p.m.).
