Munich (dpa / lby) - The Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) has clearly positioned itself against a return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the international sports stage. "I don't see the slightest justification for admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions," said BLSV President Jörg Ammon in a statement from the association on Friday. In the light of the cruel and unbearable images from Ukraine, admission is not justifiable and not only contradicts the values and principles of sport.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC), led by German President Thomas Bach, is looking for ways to allow athletes from both countries to compete as neutral athletes in international competitions. "Re-admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions - even under a neutral flag and in compliance with the IOC anti-doping regulations - is out of the question for the BLSV," emphasized Ammon.
