Munich (dpa / lby) - Against the background of rising costs, cities and municipalities in Bavaria are relying on noticeable savings measures. This comes from a survey by the consulting firm Ernst
Accordingly, in many places the room temperature in public buildings is limited, the water temperature in swimming pools is lowered and the outside lighting of public buildings is switched off. More than three quarters of the municipalities surveyed have already implemented these measures, and they are planned for others.
The proportion of municipalities surveyed that want to cut benefits has increased in Bavaria from 26 percent in the previous year to 45 percent now. Germany-wide the average is 54 percent. More than every fourth municipality surveyed wants to limit the operation of swimming pools or even close them completely. In addition, in some municipalities, offers in youth care and senior citizen work are to be reduced or discontinued (14 percent) and cultural institutions such as libraries are to be closed (14 percent). A good quarter of the municipalities surveyed also want to increase property or trade tax.
