Münchberg (dpa / lby) - A 48-year-old driver died in an accident on the A9 in Upper Franconia. The man drove his car unbraked into a semi-trailer truck in the right lane on Sunday night, the police said. The driver of the truck noticed the impact and slowly slowed down near Münchberg. He stopped in the hard shoulder and, as he got out, noticed the car stuck under the back of the trailer.
When the emergency doctor arrived, the 48-year-old driver had already died of his injuries, according to police. The cause of the accident initially remained unclear. The 40-year-old truck driver suffered minor injuries. The police estimate the property damage at around 50,000 euros.
