Bayern: Nürnberg finds striker: Kwadwo Duah comes from Switzerland

Nuremberg (dpa/lby) - Three weeks before the start of the season, 1. FC Nuremberg found what they were looking for in a center forward. The second division soccer team announced the commitment of Kwadwo Duah from FC St. Gallen on Friday. After passing the medical check, the 25-year-old was given a long-term contract, as the "club" announced. The Franks do not give exact terms.

Duah scored 15 goals for the Swiss first division team last season. His contract in St. Gallen ran until 2023. He will wear jersey number 23 at the "Club". The attacker was trained at Young Boys Bern.

"This transfer went the way we imagine it would," said FCN sports director Dieter Hecking. The second division club did not provide any information on the financial modalities. However, the market value of Duah is estimated at 1.3 million euros. Sporting director Olaf Rebbe expressed his confidence that Duah will "help coach Robert Klauß' team with his goalscoring skills".

"The club has been trying very hard for me for a year," revealed the new signing in the club's statement: "I had the best feeling here, that's why I chose the club. I'm looking forward to the fans, to the stadium and to it to score goals here."
