The "Layla" ban at the Düsseldorf fair turns out to be a shot in the oven. The DJ also plays the controversial song in the marquee of the organizers, the Schützengesellschaft - to the delight of the dancing and cheering crowd.
Despite an express ban, the DJ of the St. Sebastianus-Schützen marquee played the controversial song "Layla" at the opening of the Düsseldorf fair. Among other things, a reporter from the "Bild" newspaper documented the scene in the evening in a video that she uploaded to Twitter. Several videos from the marquee also appeared on Instagram.
The organizer of the Düsseldorf fair with up to four million guests is the Schützengesellschaft. First of all, rifle chief Lothar Inden had forbidden the playing of "Layla" throughout the fair. "I think this song belongs everywhere - just not on our festival ground," he said. The rifle club later rowed back and announced that the song would only be banned in its own tent - for the other marquees and rides there was only the recommendation to do without the song.

The producer of the song, Ballermann star Ikke Hipgold, recently stated that he was happy about the discourse. In the ntv interview, however, he also announced that he was planning a youth-free version of "Layla". "We realize there has to be another version of the song. We know that little kids listen to 'Layla' too, so there has to be a children's version, too," Hipgold explained.
