The British Council has published a new edition of its 'Study UK Guide', with recommendations for studying in the United Kingdom and with a list of more than 3,000 scholarships, among which 1,600 are eligible for Spanish undergraduate, master's, postgraduate students and Ph.D.
The publication of this new edition, which includes recommendations, advice and information of interest for studying in the United Kingdom, coincides with the opening, until June 30, of a new period for applying for a place in undergraduate and postgraduate programs in this country.
This process is carried out through UCAS, the British university admissions service, which allows access to more than 160 higher education institutions, internationally recognized for their pioneering and innovative programmes, in areas such as emerging technologies or 'green careers' ( degrees linked to sustainability).
The guide, which can be consulted and downloaded free of charge on the British Council website, addresses other key issues for students wishing to continue their education in the United Kingdom, such as the possibility of doing Erasmus in the country, visa developments, the details of the British educational system or the keys to planning student life in the United Kingdom, among others.
With the launch of this new edition of the 'Study UK Guide', the British Council is also making available to students a scholarship search engine at British institutions for undergraduate and postgraduate students, which includes more than 3,000 scholarships and discounts (of of which around 1,600 are valid for Spanish students). Among the options available to students from Spain are scholarships in Cambridge and Oxford.
In addition, the guide clarifies an issue that has raised questions after the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union. And it is that, although British students can no longer participate in Erasmus, students from the European Union can continue choosing the United Kingdom as a destination within the framework of this program, since 20% of Erasmus scholarships are reserved for mobility to third countries, outside the European Union.
In addition, many of these students will not need a visa, since study mobility for less than six months is exempt from this requirement.
In order to carry out an Erasmus in the United Kingdom, an inter-university agreement must be reached between the issuing university and the destination university. The British, correspondingly, can carry out study mobilities to other European countries with new exchange financing programs such as Turing or Taith.
The guide explains that students from the European Union do not need a visa for studies lasting less than six months in the United Kingdom. In the event that the stay exceeds that period, the visa procedures have been "greatly simplified", to the point that applications can be made online, through the 'UK Immigration: ID Check' application (if a digital passport is available).
Student visas in the United Kingdom have a particularity, since in the case of students who have a visa to carry out university studies, an extension of between two or three years is included, which allows them to remain in the United Kingdom without the need for justification. or additional documentation, to be able to find a job and start a professional career in this country. Once this time has passed, a work visa will be required.
