A luxury jewelry store located on the so-called "golden mile" in Paris, two steps from Place Vendome, was robbed this Tuesday, with an estimated loot between 10 and 15 million euros, the Prosecutor's Office reported.
Three armed people entered the establishment of the Swiss watch and jewelery brand Piaget at around 1:00 p.m. (11:00 GMT) and managed to escape with significant loot, without causing any personal injury.
The Prosecutor's Office indicated that an investigation has been opened for armed robbery in an organized gang and kidnapping, since the robbers kept the boutique staff retained during the time the robbery lasted.
The store is located on rue de la Paix, which, next to Place Vendome, houses a multitude of luxury brands and is regularly the subject of robberies. This same year, three individuals robbed a Bulgari brand jewelry store in Place Vendome, which had already been robbed in September 2021.
In May of last year it was a Chanel brand store, from which the thieves took goods worth several million euros.
