Hesse: charged after robbery with life-threatening consequences

Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - After a brutal street robbery with life-threatening consequences for the victim, the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office has brought charges against two 31 and 34-year-old men. According to senior prosecutor Nadja Niesen on Friday, it is about serious robbery and dangerous bodily harm.

The accused first met the 35-year-old victim in July of this year in a restaurant in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel. They found that the man had a bundle of money with around 500 euros and a mobile phone with him. The man was lured onto the street under the pretext of taking a walk together "through the neighborhood" and then stopping off at a brothel. A little later, the 34-year-old is said to have hit the man in the face with full force.

A video shared on social media showed the victim hitting the sidewalk "with a cracking skull," Niesen said. The fact that charges were not brought for attempted homicide is due to the fact that the man was not subjected to further violent action. A few weeks after the incident, the men were arrested one after the other. According to Niesen, they have not yet commented on the allegations. Hearing dates for the trial before the Frankfurt Regional Court have not yet been set.
