Frankfurt/Main (dpa/lhe) - A 60-year-old cyclist died of her severe head injuries after colliding with a car in downtown Frankfurt. A 31-year-old man parked in a parking bay on Tuesday evening and opened the driver's door, police said on Wednesday. The woman riding in the bike lane was caught by the door and fell. She sustained severe head injuries when she hit the ground. The 60-year-old was taken to a hospital. She succumbed to her injuries there on Wednesday morning.

The driver was in shock. The investigations into the course of the accident and the cause of the accident continued, and an accident expert was called in. The police are now looking for witnesses.
