Hesse: Drunken device on the opposite lane – two injured

Rüsselsheim (dpa/lhe) - With over two per mille, a 34-year-old is said to have run into oncoming traffic on a country road in the southern Hessian district of Groß-Gerau and collided head-on with a car. First responders freed the two injured drivers from their cars on highway 3482 between Nauheim and Bauschheim, the police said on Tuesday morning. The alleged culprit and the 35-year-old driver of the oncoming car were therefore taken to a hospital for examination. The country road was closed for around four hours after the accident on Monday evening.

The blood test of the 34-year-old is still pending. The police estimated the total damage to both cars at around 100,000 euros.
