Hesse: Hessian AfD decides on program for state elections

Melsungen (dpa/lhe) - The Hessian AfD is discussing its program for the state elections on October 8th this weekend. A two-day party conference is taking place today in Melsungen, North Hesse (Schwalm-Eder district). The state list of the AfD for state elections has already been drawn up. The top candidate is party and faction leader Robert Lambrou. In second place is the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group, Andreas Lichtert.

The AfD entered the Hessian state parliament for the first time after the last state election in 2018. With a result of 13.1 percent, she won 19 mandates. In the meantime, however, the group only has 14 people. Four deputies have left the party in a dispute over the political course. An elected member of parliament was suspected of having spread right-wing extremist ideas and was not accepted into the Hessian AfD parliamentary group.
