Hesse: Museum Ernst: 60-year-old Japanese maple planted in the courtyard

Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - A Japanese maple was planted in the courtyard of the new Reinhard Ernst Museum in Wiesbaden on Tuesday. According to the museum, the 60-year-old tree weighs three tons and is eight meters high. It was lifted into the courtyard by crane, where it will conceptually complement a sculpture by sculptor Eduardo Chillida, the museum said. The new house is scheduled to open in 2023.

The Japanese maple has a particularly picturesque growth and inspires in autumn with a bright red color, it is said. The specimen for the Ernst Museum came from a Dutch tree nursery.
