Wiesbaden (dpa/lhe) - Reduced opening hours, cooler rooms and postponed exhibitions: The Wiesbaden Museum wants to defy the energy crisis and rising costs with several savings measures. The educational work for kindergartens and schools is expressly excluded from the restrictions, said the director Andreas Henning on Wednesday. In order to save energy, however, the "Giraffe Hall", for example, which offers space for special exhibitions, is temporarily not used and the expensive air conditioning is removed.
According to Henning, the two planned special exhibitions on bees in nature and bees in art should be postponed, but the beetle exhibition should run longer. This saves money to pay for higher gas bills, for example. The room temperatures in the museum are to be lowered to 19 degrees, which is still acceptable for the exhibits, said the director. However, it is important to keep the humidity at 50 percent, which also requires energy.
Even if it is painful "for every hour that we lose", Henning announced that the opening times would be reduced. From 2023, for example, the house will only open Tuesday to Sunday at 11 a.m. instead of the previous 10 a.m. However, there are exclusive offers for daycare centers and schools on weekdays from 9 a.m.
