Hesse: straw and hay bales burn: rescued cattle

Vöhl/Korbach (dpa/lhe) - The fire in numerous straw and hay bales triggered a major fire brigade operation in Vöhl in northern Hesse (Waldeck-Frankenberg district). A total of around 170 straw and 30 hay bales caught fire late Thursday evening in the Marienhagen district, as the police in Korbach announced on Friday. Several cattle were rescued unharmed from a nearby barn, and another smaller barn was slightly damaged by the heat. Police estimated the damage to property at around $5,000. She is looking for witnesses, according to initial investigations, arson cannot be ruled out.
