Hesse: Thieves steal several kilometers of copper cable

Bürstadt (dpa/lhe) - Thieves tampered with a photovoltaic system in Bürstadt in southern Hesse and stole several kilometers of copper cable. A six-figure damage was caused, the police said on Wednesday. The perpetrators had therefore gained access to the fenced area on Monday evening. They severed several insulated wires and, according to an initial estimate, stole several kilometers of copper wire. The loot is worth several thousand euros. The act caused damage of around 200,000 euros to the photovoltaic system. The police is now looking for witnesses.
