Kirchheim (dpa / lhe) - After an accident on the Autobahn 7 near Kirchheim (Hersfeld-Rotenburg district), the suspected culprit fled. On Tuesday night, the car drove in the middle lane and the person behind the wheel tried to overtake a truck in the right lane, the police said. For reasons that are not yet known, the car continued to turn to the right, so that the truck driver had to swerve. The 41-year-old came off the road with his team and crashed into the crash barrier. A vehicle tank was damaged by the impact. The leaked diesel fuel spread over 150 meters on the road.
According to police, there was apparently no collision between the car and the truck. The driver of the car left the scene of the accident without permission after the incident. The A7 was closed for around two hours for the recovery of the truck and cleaning work. The police estimate the damage at around 41,000 euros.
