Hollywood in the capital: Helen Mirren inspires at the Berlinale

There are quite a few Hollywood stars present at this year's Berlinale. Alongside Sean Penn and Willem Dafoe, Helen Mirren is also among the guests at the film festival. In the evening, the 77-year-old inspires visitors with her new film "Golda" and her performance at the premiere.

The British Oscar winner Helen Mirren once again gave the Berlinale real glitz and glamor. On Monday she appeared in the capital for the premiere of her new film "Golda" at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival on the red carpet. Mirren wore a floor-length, black, long-sleeved dress with a boat neckline. She wore her gray and gold hair loose, styled in loose waves that cascaded down her back. She combined black high heels and a strong, red lipstick with her elegant outfit.

In her new film, Mirren embodies Israel's first female prime minister, Golda Nattiv. Speaking about the role in director Guy Nattiv's biopic, Mirren said at a pre-premier press conference: "It's a huge challenge to portray her at the most difficult time of her extraordinary life. I just hope I do her justice." In Israel and also in Palestine, the occupation of Mirren caused reactions, some of them massive. On the one hand, it was criticized that Mirren herself was not Jewish, on the other hand, she was insulted as a racist.

Helen Mirren already enchanted the capital three years ago with her presence at the Berlinale. At that time she received the Honorary Golden Bear for her life's work and gave a remarkable speech.

"My Oscar will fall in love with him!" Said Mirren at the presentation of the Berlinale trophy, among other things. This year her film "Golda" is shown in the "Berlinale Special Gala" category.
