"I used people": Armie Hammer speaks for the first time about allegations of abuse

Several women have accused Armie Hammer of sexual and emotional abuse. Now the US actor breaks his silence. He was an "asshole", but he denies criminal behavior. In an interview, he states that he himself experienced sexual abuse as a child.

Actor Armie Hammer has given his first interview since multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse were made against him in early 2021. In it, the 36-year-old claims that all encounters in question were consensual. However, he admitted that he "used" women.

"I had a very intense and extreme lifestyle," Hammer told Air Mail, a digital newsletter. "I picked these women up, brought them in - into this whirlwind of travel and sex and drugs and big emotions that were floating around - and once I was done, I just dropped them and went on to the next thing this woman leaves behind, which is herself abandoned or used."

The 'Call Me By Your Name' star has admitted to misbehaving in a number of situations. "I'm here to admit my mistakes, to take responsibility for being an asshole, for being selfish, for using people to make me feel better, and when I was done I moved on." said Hammer.

However, Hammer denied any criminal behavior in the interview. He claimed the encounters at issue in the allegations against him were all consensual. However, he said of the relationships, "I had these younger women in my mid-20s, and I'm in my 30s. I was a successful actor back then." The women were "happy" to be with him and said yes to things they might not have said yes to otherwise, Hammer claims.

The actor also revealed that he was sexually abused by a youth pastor when he was 13 years old. This experience eventually led to his interest in BDSM. "Air Mail" he said: "I was powerless in the situation." He had "no freedom of choice". "My interests then went like this: I want to be in control of the situation, sexually."

He divorced his wife in the summer of 2020 after ten years together. Two children emerged from the relationship. Six months later, serious allegations of physical and psychological abuse against him became public. Los Angeles Police Department is investigating rape allegations. In addition, Hammer is said to have written in messages, among other things, about violent sex fantasies and cannibalism. Whether these are actually private messages from the actor has not yet been clarified. Hammer stated the claims were "bullshit". The actor lost his agency and film projects.
