In Saxony-Anhalt there are around 5,600 vacancies for apprenticeships shortly before the start of the new training year. That's 600 more than a year ago. Apprentices are particularly sought after in production and manufacturing occupations, as the regional directorate of Saxony-Anhalt-Thuringia announced to the Federal Employment Agency on Friday. In July, 2,800 applicants had not yet found a training position. In purely mathematical terms, there are currently two vacancies for every person without an apprenticeship contract.
There are good chances of an apprenticeship, for example, in the fields of metal and welding technology, energy technology as well as in sales and in the construction industry. The new training year begins on Monday in many sectors. It is usually possible to start later. Employers and providers had reported around 12,000 in-company and external training places to the employment agencies in the state since October 2021, 300 more than in 2020.
