London: the prestigious French high school criticized by the British inspection

A major disappointment. The French Lycée Charles-de-Gaulle in London (UK) has just been awarded the worst grade that the British authorities can give. He has indeed obtained the mention "insufficient", reports franceinfo. In 2022, only 8% of independent schools in the UK received such a rating, according to the news site. The document explains that the academic excellence of the establishment does not make it possible to hide the failures of the school.

The British inspection highlights the lack of listening of education to students or teachers who do not "systematically" ensure that high school students have assimilated the lessons. The main point that emerges from the report concerns the non-respect of British laws vis-à-vis the protection of children. According to the document, "officials do not alert official agencies quickly enough when child protection abuses occur."

In response, Principal Didier Devilard acknowledged a "discrepancy with English requirements and standards". "It's a disappointment, but now it's action time," he said. He also assured that the establishment would take measures to apply British laws, in force since 2019. The manager has notably planned to recruit external consultants for several tens of thousands of euros.
