Magdeburg: Arrival daycare center for Ukrainian children opened

There is now a new day-care center in Magdeburg for children from families with a history of flight or migration. In the so-called arrival day care center there are places for Ukrainian children in particular, but the offer is also open to all other families. "We have about a third of Ukrainian families, a third of Muslim families and the last third are distributed among other international children and especially Germans," said daycare manager Claudia Rondio in view of the opening on Monday. A total of 70 of the 125 places have already been booked.

In the future, the children will be able to play and learn together on around 400 square meters. The team is also international. Operation is initially planned until the end of 2023. The time limit was a challenge, especially when looking for employees. "I'm surprised myself, excited, euphoric that it worked at all," said Rondio. The day-care provider Mandala already operates an intercultural day-care center in Magdeburg. In the future, both institutions should be in contact again and again on trips or projects.
