Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The museum specialist Wolf Karge (71) receives this year's culture prize of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) paid tribute to Karge on Monday with the words: "Archivist, historian, museologist, curator, publicist, lecturer, consultant, consultant, long-standing founding chairman and current honorary chairman of the Museumsverband Mecklenburg-Vorpommern - Wolf Karge is versatile and he's open enriches cultural life in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in many ways."

Regional history is at the center of his interest. "Wolf Karge helps us to be aware of our roots in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania." According to Karge, he is currently working on or is involved in three projects: a screenplay for the permanent exhibition at the Darß Museum, the revision of the artist encyclopedia Ahrenshoop and the permanent exhibition at the local history museum in Göhren on the island of Rügen. The State Culture Prize is endowed with 10,000 euros.

The 5,000-euro prize goes to Marianne Wöhrle-Braun for her commitment to organizing the Schwerin Jazz Night, which she has been organizing on a voluntary basis since 2009.
