Stralsund (dpa / mv) - Three cranes are being dismantled at the Stralsund shipyard. The city announced on Thursday that they had stood still since 2014 and were only used as spare parts donors. The cranes are very dilapidated and pose a safety risk. As a result, certain areas cannot currently be used. Dismantling is scheduled to start on November 1st. However, another fully functional crane is to remain in place and another to be restored as a technical monument.
After the insolvency of the shipyard group MV Werften, the city of Stralsund bought the shipyard site in order to develop a maritime business park. Several companies have now signed lease agreements.
