Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: AfD meets in Ivenack

Schwerin/Ivenack (dpa/mv) - The AfD Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania meets on Saturday (10 a.m.) in Ivenack (Mecklenburg Lake District) for its state party conference. Almost a year after the state elections, the party wants to sharpen its political profile. In the election, it was again the strongest opposition force with 16.7 percent, but had to accept a loss of votes. Party members have a five-page resolution to consider and vote on. The board was only newly elected in October 2021 and is not up for election this time.

Under the heading "MV first. For our homeland", the resolution clearly rejects the energy transition. Nuclear power and coal are to continue to be used in order to secure the supply of affordable energy. It is also said that the commissioning of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, which Germany has not approved because of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, should not be taboo. In the resolution, the AfD also reaffirmed its rejection of a liberal asylum policy and simplified naturalizations, and spoke out against the federal and state corona policies.
