Rambin (dpa / mv) - After a house fire in Rambin on the island of Rügen, the police are investigating on suspicion of arson. As a police spokeswoman said on Monday, the fire broke out shortly before midnight on Sunday evening on a motorcycle parked in front of the apartment building. The flames spread to a canopy, the facade and the roof structure of the house. Firefighters were able to put out the flames before the whole house caught fire.
The resident of the house, who is said to own the bike, was alone in the house. He was able to escape and was unharmed. The public prosecutor's office appointed a fire expert to clarify whether someone set fire to the motorcycle in the middle of the night. The exact amount of damage is not yet known. Rambin is located in the south of the Baltic Sea island on the mainland access road from Stralsund.
