Schwerin/Upahl (dpa/mv) - The district of Northwest Mecklenburg has organized a shuttle service for the citizens' meeting scheduled for Friday for the refugee accommodation in Upahl. The local transport company Nahbus will set up a bus shuttle between the Upahl fire brigade and the event location in Grevesmühlen, the district announced on Wednesday in Wismar. Buses are scheduled to depart at 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

After the protests against the planned accommodation for 400 refugees, the district had scheduled a town meeting. This is to take place at 6 p.m. in the sports hall of the Gymnasium am Tannenberg in Grevesmühlen. The situation should be explained here. District Administrator Tino Schomann (CDU) and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the local transport company Nahbus, the police and the Red Cross have already been announced.

Last Thursday there were riots during a protest against the decision of the district council. 120 police officers shielded the meeting from up to 700 demonstrators at the top. According to the police, representatives of the right-wing political spectrum were also on site.

A demonstration was also announced for the district council meeting taking place this Thursday in the Wismar arsenal. According to the district, 200 participants were registered.
