Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania: Celebrities climb dog sleds again for a good cause

Heringsdorf (dpa / mv) - Numerous celebrities want to climb a dog sled again for a good cause on the beach of Usedom today. After the pros' race (from 11:00 a.m.), the celebrities are in demand from the early afternoon (around 12:45 p.m.) at the seventh edition of the "Baltic Lights". The organizers are expecting boxing world champion Henry Maske, actress Simone Thomalla, her colleague Dieter Hallervorden, former news announcer Jan Hofer and entertainer Wolfgang Lippert. There are also around 200 huskies.

The sled dog race aims to collect money for Welthungerhilfe. Last year, 45,000 euros were raised. However, due to Corona requirements, only about 2000 spectators could be there at the time. Before Corona, there were up to 60,000 visitors spread over the three days of the event.

In 2022, the model Franziska Knuppe won the celebrity rating for women and the actor Hendrik Duryn for men. They should also take part in the race over four kilometers between the Ahlbeck and Heringsdorf piers again.
